Today, the pressure is on trying to figure which college might produce the “greatest return on investment.” Along with their acceptance offers, colleges will also proffer their financial-aid offers. No doubt, getting to the bottom line can be a mind-altering and dizzying exercise. Unfortunately, only about 10% of the nation’s roughly 6,000 colleges have adopted the U.S. Department of Education’s “Financial Aid Shopping Sheet,” which provides a standard format for evaluating costs, and performance. To make things even more confusing, some schools don’t even mention costs in their financial-aid award letters, while other schools cite only tuition & fees while ignoring transportation, textbooks and living expenses. Some schools even go as far describing loans as, “Financial Aid” - making things even murkier by omitting that the aid package includes federal loans to be taken out by the parents.
Helping to educate your clients in purely financial terms can help families make smarter decisions by zeroing in on factors such as net price after aid, graduation rate, job placement rates, and how much they might have to borrow. The speakers we have interviewed & selected for this meeting are experts in their respective fields, and well respected in their communities. All Financial Advisors will benefit from what is now being called – Financial Aid’s New Math for the New Millennium.
