The Demise of DOMA - Advising to Same Sex Couples
(This program has been submitted to CFP Board of Standards for 3 CFP CEUs.)
The repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) has changed the way we should be advising our same sex couple clients. Please join us on May 6th when Attorney Ralph Randazzo and James Tissot, CFP®, will help us understand how this impacts our planning on such issues as:
We will also learn how the changes have reshaped how we plan our engagements:
Ralph M. Randazzo, Partner, Randazzo & Randazzo, L.L.P., is a former member of the Board of Directors of SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders), the past Chairman of the Taxation Law Committee and member of the Elder Law, Taxation Law and Surrogates Court Committes of the Suffolk County Bar Association and former Treasurer and board member of LeGaL (Lesbian and Gay Law Association of Greater New York).
James Tissot, CFP®, President & Founder, Prism Planning, Inc., currently
practices in New York City, Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. He came to a financial planning career due in large part to the AIDS crisis. To better assist a friend afflicted with HIV/AIDS, James started attending seminars offered at the Lesbian and Gay Center on financial planning for the disabled and terminally ill, sponsored by "Body Positive." He has served as the Chair of the FPANY Board of Directors and as a member of the National Financial Planning Association Board of Directors.
