President's Message

A message from our President Elect:

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I will be taking over as President in August. A very short biography has me growing up in the Chicago suburbs, attending the Air Force Academy, spending a number of years as a pilot in the Air Force, spending a short time as an engineer, and eventually becoming a financial planner. For the last nine years I have been involved in the Financial Planning Association and our local chapter.

In the April newsletter, our previous president did a great job of describing the benefits of being a local chapter member of the FPA. This month I would like to briefly discuss just ONE of the benefits of being a national member. As part of national membership you have access to a wealth of information. You can sign up to receive for free, Money magazine, Barron's newspaper, and various email alerts/articles. I know information overload can be an issue but in a recent email I received from FPA there was an article titled "FINRA: Advisors, brokers must warn of growing bond risk". It was an interesting article regarding FINRA's view on advisors/brokers liability if you don't keep your clients informed of the risks. The information the FPA national organization provides can be timely reminders of our obligations to our clients. And after all that is why we are in business!

Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to all who attended the membership breakfast. In particular we recognized the longtime members Cheri Pinkerton (17 years), Carey McNeal (18 Years), and David Turner (18 Years). We also said thank you to our new members, David Allen, Brett Gallagher, Steve Kovach, Robert Reynolds, and Ronald Messler. Ron was the winner of our gift card drawing as a thank you for providing us valuable feedback to our annual survey.

As always if you have suggestions on how to bring more value to your membership, my door and well as all the board member's doors are open. Please give us a call!

Have a great summer!
