Financial Planning Specialist Position Description

We are seeking a Financial Planning Specialist for our wealth management firm in Cleveland, OH.  We are very interested in you if you are a recent graduate from a CFP Board Registered Financial Planning program who desires a small firm environment; wants to be involved in all aspects of the business learning and shaping the way we care for our clients; wants to learn from a team of industry veterans, and who is excited to work your way up our advisory career lader.  Candidates that fit into our firm and culture will desire to be in a small independent RIA firm environment acting in a fiduciary capacity, embrace technology, and working in a callaborative environment.

Position Overview

This is a professional position that will initially support the firm's Planning Team directly in servicing existing and new client relationships.  You will be expected to assist in various projects including portfolio reviews and preparing financial projections using Excel spreadsheets, eMoney Advisor, and Morningstar office software.  Thorough computer skills are essential with a particularly strong undertanding of Microsoft Office Suite.  A working knowledge of portfolio allocation, investment management and general financial planning is expected.  The Planning Team is available to provide mentoring and big picture direction, but you must have the ability to utilize critical thinking skills, work independently and anticipate firm needs and client questions.

Initial Key Areas of Responsibility:

Assist in preparing for and conducting client meetings and regularly monitor clients' financial situations with attention to detail and acccuracy.

Involvement in all aspecis of pre-client meeting activities such as data gathering, preparation of meeting agendas, client paperwork, Investment Policy Statements, asset allocations as well as post-client meeting tasks such as develop meeting notes, perform financial situation analyses and coordinate planning implementation with outside professionals if necessary.

Work with eMoney Advisor and Morningstar Office software programs.

Interact with cients over the phone and in-person.

Potential Future Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Asisst with trading and rebalancing of client investment accounts.
  • Deliver multidisciplinary financial planning advice for high net-worth clientele independently.
  • Develop and manage on-going client relationships independently.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to supporting team members.
  • Provide input on strategic plan and direction of the firm.

Key Qualifications:

  • Organized, with a strong attention to detail
  • B.A. or B.S. degree from CFP Board Registered Financial Planning program
  • Obtain CFP® certification witin 18 months of joining firm
  • Existing Series 65 preferred, or obtain within 90 days of joining firm.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify, meet and follow through with client needs and requirements.
  • Must be a self-starter, problem solver and a goal-oriented team player with a "no job is beneath me" attitude.
  • Able to work independently and keep Planning Team aware of progress and hurdles.
  • Show curiosity and confidence when dealing with clients and Partners.

Associate Wealth Advisor Job Description

We are a rapidly growing wealth management company in Akron, OH, recognized in Crain’s Cleveland Top 25 Financial Planners’ List, and are seeking an Associate Wealth Advisor for our expanding team. This is not an entry level position and is ideal opportunity for a 5+ years-of-experience financial planner to learn our firm and take your career to the next level. Position Overview

You will be expected to assist in various projects including portfolio reviews and preparing financial and tax projections using Morningstar Office, Money Guide Pro, and CCH Prosystem FX.  Thorough computer and technology skills are essential with the ability to quickly learn new software. Strong working knowledge of portfolio allocation, investment management, and retirement planning is expected. Tax, estate, and insurance knowledge is needed but will train the right person. The Senior Wealth Advisor is available to provide mentoring and big picture direction, but you must have the ability to utilize critical thinking skills, work independently, and anticipate firm needs and client questions.

Initial Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and continuously monitor personal and financial client information with accuracy
  • Construct financial and tax projections using Money Guide Pro, Morningstar Office and CCH’s Prosystem FX Tax Planning
  • Assist Senior Wealth Advisor in analysis of estate plans, retirement plans, tax plans, and insurance needs
  • Create deliverables for client engagements
  • Participate in client meetings, deliver planning strategies, and capture client wishes via meeting notes
  • Accurately maintain client records in Redtail CRM and Net Documents document management software
  • Coordinate planning recommendations and implementation with outside professionals
  • Be available to field ad hoc planning questions from clients, interacting professionally and respectfully in all communications
  • Facilitate efficient office operations including leading and assisting with process and system improvement projects

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years in financial planning / wealth management, preferably via a RIA; Existing client relationships may be transitioned to our firm, provided there is a good fit between firm and client, but are not required.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Show curiosity and confidence when dealing with clients and Senior Wealth Advisor
  • Strong financial and analytical skills

  • Assist with trading and rebalancing of client investment accounts via TRX Rebalancer software.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2+ years in financial planning / wealth management, preferably via RIA; career change from accounting/tax also considered
  • Position requires a bright, hard-working, goal-oriented, self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, and personable individual.
  • Must thoroughly enjoy highly detail-oriented work
  • Show curiosity and confidence when dealing with clients and Wealth Advisors
