Topic: Financial Issues in Divorce
Speaker: Robert Matheson

 

Hailing from Sheboygan Fall, WI and a long-time resident of Minneapolis, MN, Robert Matheson graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a major in accounting and minors in economics and mathematics.

Mr. Matheson was the first Certified Divorce Financial Anayst in SW Florida. He assists clients, attorneys, and judges in the financial and tax aspects of divorce not just in SW Florida, but in many parts of the state and nationally. Besides helping clients select attorneys, he helps organize client's financial information, value certain assets, performs forensic accounting for hidden assets and expenses, helps find alimony alternatives, and is instrumental in the the mediation process helping clients who are seeking a financially fair divorce.

Mr. Matheson is also an investment advisor, Certified Financial Planner® and, past President of the Financial Planning Association- Southwest Florida Chapter, licensed as a CPA in Florida and Minnesota, and a graduate of Leadership Collier. His investment clients include independent women over 50, retired couples, retirement plans, and busy executives.

Lance McKinney received his Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Florida in 1990. He is a member of the American Bar Association, The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, The Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys, The Florida Bar, The Lee County Bar Association, and The Florida State Guardianship Association. Mr. McKinney is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of Florida. In June 2005, he earned his certification as an Elder Law Attorney by The Florida Bar.

His practice concentrates in the areas of probate, guardianship, estate planning, and special needs and long-term care planning. Lance McKinney received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility, and earned the AIF® designation from Center for Fiduciary Studies through the University of Pittsburgh. He served as a barrister in the Inns of Court and on the Board of Directors of Age Link, an agency that provides information and referrals to the elderly. He is a member of the Special Needs Alliance, which is a national network of attorneys dealing with special needs trusts and disability issues. He is Vice President and Director of The National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Lee County, Inc, which is a non-profit, self-help support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses.

Corey Vertich, a principal in Uhler and Vertich Financial Planners, began his financial planning career in 1989, achieved Certified Financial Planner™ status in 1994, and has served as President of both the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and the Financial Planning Association of Southwest Florida.  Corey is a frequent speaker on financial industry topics, including estate planning, business ethics, practice management, technology, and insurance planning.

Corey is the charter President of the Kiwanis Club of McGregor-San Carlos.  Long active in the Boy Scouts of America, Corey is an Eagle Scout and life member of the National Eagle Scout Association.  He is a Cum Laude graduate of Barry University School of Business in Miami; he lives in Fort Myers with his two daughters and wife, Cecile Saint Paul, M.D.

Scott R. Schatzle, Certified Financial Planner™, is an Associate of Uhler and Vertich Financial Planners with over 7 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Uhler and Vertich, Scott was First Vice President for a Naples-based wealth management firm. Scott received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Management from Florida International University. He holds the prestigious Certified Financial Planner™ designation and served as an instructor for the CFP® educational certification program at Florida Gulf Coast University.

In addition to his successful career as a financial planner, Scott is also active in the Financial Planning Association and currently serves as a board member. When Scott is not assisting clients, he enjoys exercising, fishing, attending church, and spending time with his wife Kelly.

Mr. Warnock joined Raymond James & Associates in 1999 in the Equity Research department focusing on the Real Estate, Financial Services, Technology, and Telecommunications sectors.  In 2001, Mr. Warnock joined the Equity Syndicate department as an analyst  and in 2004 assumed responsibility for consulting the firm’s high-net-worth clients on issues associated with concentrated equity positions.  In 2009, Mr. Warnock also assumed responsibility for consulting on cases involving high-net-worth corporate executive clients.  Scott Warnock earned his CFA charter in 2003 and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a degree in Finance and Business Economics.

Meredith Birdsall is a Vice President with Pioneer's Institutional group, acting as a fixed income investment strategy specialist for the U.S. fixed income team. She covers all of Pioneer's U.S. fixed income strategies, most notably Pioneer's Core Plus, Global High Yield and High Yield products. Meredith has been involved in the investment industry for over twenty years. Before joining Pioneer, she was a fixed income product engineer and portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors, specializing in credit products, including high yield and investment grade debt. Her prior roles included consulting to endowments and other institutional investors at Hirtle, Callaghan & Co, as well as managing the firm's private equity and hedge fund programs. Meredith recieved both her bachelor and MBA degrees from Harvard University.

He is a senior product specialist and shares responsibility for marketing, business development and relationship management.
