DAYTON CHAPTER MEETING - July 17, 2012
On July 17, Dr. Richard Stock of the University of Dayton presented
the current economic reality and his predictions about the future
of the Dayton economy and Southwestern Ohio. This presentation
created for the local FPA will help us better prepare our clients for
their personal & financial life in Dayton Ohio. It shows the
importance of proper financial planning- the value of emergency
savings, living within spending plans and financial means, and saving
for the uncertainties of life. The manufacturing sector of our economy
has not recovered since 2001 and probably never will. Many of the
manufacturing jobs are truly gone. Our clients need to prepare for a
future whose jobs require more advanced education and adoption of
technology. Local Business Owners, as employers and entrepreneurs
benefit when their financial planner knows the trends that impact the
region. Our goal is to help our FPA members better prepare their
clients for the new realities in the region.

Common Mistakes That Small Companies Make
DAY/DATE:
Tuesday, August 16, 2011
ABOUT THE TOPIC:
On August 16, two highly respected professionals in the Cincinnati community presented solutions to the Common Mistakes that Small Business’s Make. These presentations were designed to especially educate our advisors, so that they can share these ideas with their small business clients. Through these efforts, our advisors and the Tri-State area may benefit from the employment and prosperity that such small business success provides. Somewhere in Cincinnati, in a barely lit garage, is a nascent business that may transform our region and our country, just as other Fortune 500 entrepreneurs have done. As financial professionals, we can have a great impact on their future success as we help clients nurture and plan for it.

On May 24, The Greater Cincinnati FPA hosted an exclusive panel discussion about “When Bad Things Happen to Good Clients.
The inspiration for the topic was due to an experience of a “high net worth” friend that any financial advisor would love to attract and retain who became an unemployed “technology sales expert “with subsequent bankruptcy, foreclosure, and pending divorce over three years. His 2 financial advisors were not able to assist him and eventually did not even return his phone calls. As a trusted advisor, it is important to be able to counsel clients through the best of times and the worst of times or at least direct them to the resources that can.
These 3 Cincinnati experts graciously shared their time and their experience as they paneled a discussion about legal issues, bankruptcy, foreclosure, mortgage modification and financial recovery. They shared the common mistakes that clients and advisors make as they deal with such “difficult” events in life and strategies to aid in recovery. The presentation materials and contact information is available on our website for your review and download.
