2012 Cincinnati Financial Education Day was a success

The FPA of  Greater Cincinnati is a proud co-sponsor of this free public financial education & literacy event with the Mayor’s office, PNC Bank, and other community partners.  This event is an example of  the dedication of our membership to the principles and benefits of financial planning services in Southwestern Ohio.

We had  30 volunteers help us complete  financial  counseling sessions  for most of the public attendees of the event at the Cincinnati downtown branch library on January 28, 2012 from 10am to 4pm.   Our volunteers gave encouraging free advice  to help the public  improve their  financial literacy and  financial outcomes.

Through such efforts, we help  to positively change lives and  have a positive impact on the city. Through ProBono efforts, we make a difference.  Thank  you to all the  volunteers, Appreciation letters from the Mayor coming soon.

2011 Summer Youth Program
FPA Greater Cincinnati Helped with the Cincinnati Summer Youth Financial Literacy Program

FPA of Greater Cincinnati helped with the Cincinnati Summer Youth Financial Literacy Program

In 2011, the Greater Cincinnati Financial Planning Association partnered with the Mayor’s Office and SmartMoney Community Services to assist with the largest Youth Financial Literacy Initiative in Cincinnati history. This program’s genesis began with the success of the Cincinnati Financial Planning Day, and the Mayor’s continued dedication in encouraging such programs through corporate and community partnerships.  The FPA provided 10 volunteers to aid in this project in the course of the summer.  Volunteers did not need to be from financial backgrounds.

The Summer Youth Job Fair has been an initiative of Mayor Mark Mallory since 2006 for youth, ages 14 to 18; where 6000 teenagers and employers come together for job opportunities.    On Thursday April 28th, at the Summer Youth Job Fair, an additional program will be announced- the Cincinnati Summer Youth Financial Literacy Program.  This financial education program, the largest initiative in Cincinnati history, lasted all summer and offered teenagers and recent college graduates the free opportunity to learn about managing their present and future financial issues as part of their employment with the Summer Youth Employer Partners.  The program was facilitated by the Mayor’s office, SmartMoney Community Services, Bank of America, the Greater Cincinnati Financial Planning Association and other local community organizations.
