The Financial Planning Association of Australia Limited (FPA) was founded in 1992 following the successful merger of the International Association for Financial Planning (Australia) with the Australian Society of Investment and Financial Advisors Limited. The FPA is the peak financial planning professional body in Australia and the only organization in Australia licensed to award CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ accreditation, which represents the highest level of professionalism.

FPA has approximately 12,000 members and operates through a network of 31 Chapters around Australia. The FPA is committed to assisting members enhance professional standards and meet community expectations. It seeks to influence policy issues; provide professional education and practice support to members; and to build public awareness of the value of professional financial planning advice. As a national organization, FPA offers services and products in education, professional and ethical standards and compliance as well as the promotion and representation of its members' professional interests with legislators, regulators and consumer bodies. FPA is the only national financial planning professional body in Australia.
