FPA's 'Find a Planner' tool is unique in that it connects you with CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals. In addition to being CFPs, all of our planners are members of FPA and adhere to our Code of Ethics.

The search feature is very flexible, allowing you to put in any of the above combinations. It is also "intelligent;" if you choose a city that can be found in multiple states, for example, it will ask you to pick the one you were looking for. Once you've entered your information, simply click the "Go" button and your results will be returned.

Refining Your Search

Refining your search is completely optional; it's provided so you can narrow your search and find a planner that will better fit your needs.

How Planners Charge
Choose from five different options for how planners charge. You can select multiple methods and any planner who fits that criteria will come up in your search.

Specialty
There are 45 specialities you can choose from, which are broken out into five overarching categories:

• Comprehensive Financial Planning
• Major Life Changes
• Personal Finances
• Investments
• Business Finances

You can select as many as you wish, and have the option of returning planners with at least one or all of the specialties you've selected.

Income & Asset Minimums
Select a range for your household income, as well as an amount for your investable assets. Refining by these numbers should provide a better match for any planner results that are returned in your search.

Let Us Do the Work for You

If you're strapped for time or simply don't want to mess around with the search feature, just click the "Go" button under Let Us Do the Work for You and give us a little information on what you're looking for. You'll be taken to a short form to enter your contact information, and you'll have the option of adding more detail to help us find a match for you.

Know Your Planner's Last Name

This one is pretty straightforward. If you know the last name of the planner you're trying to find, just type it into the appropriate field. That will return any planners who have that last name; at that point, simply select the one you want.

Saved Planners

The Saved Planners feature allows you to save any planners you think would be a good match for you in one place. You can save planners off the search results page, and out of both basic and detailed profiles. Once you've done so, you're able to remove a planner if you wish, as well as:

• Print your list of planners
• E-mail your list to yourself or a friend
• E-mail planners on your list
