About My Practice

Katherine Simmonds is the Director of Financial Planning at Stanford Investment Group, Inc. She joined the firm in 2007 bringing with her 16 years of experience working with business executives, and high income earning professionals and has developed a comprehensive planning approach to meet their needs. Stanford Investment Group, Inc. advisers located in Mountain View, California are known for working with Silicon Valley executives, law firm partners, high income earning professionals, business owners and affluent families nationwide. In addition to years of experience creating financial plans and designing and managing client portfolios, the firm's wealth advisors bring unique specialties to bear in advising clients, including complex stock transactions and options planning as well as other "liquidity events", alternative investments, retirement planning, socially responsible investments, and other planning capabilities.

 

Experience

Katherine joined Stanford Investment Group, Inc. (SIG) in early 2007, bringing with her 16 years of experience working with business executives.  In recent years she has specialized in working with attorneys and law firm partners, with a particular emphasis on retirement planning and has developed a unique planning approach to meeting their needs. Prior to joining SIG, Katherine was the Director of Investment Planning at Brouwer & Janachowski, Inc. another Bay Area investment advisory firm. Before moving to the West Coast, she spent 10 years running a financial advisory practice in the Washington, DC area. Earlier in her career she held several senior positions in the Federal government, including at the Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President. Katherine is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER? and holds an M.A. in Economics from George Washington University and a B.A in Political Science from the University of Detroit. In her spare time, she volunteers as a docent naturalist at Ano Nuevo
