About My Practice
You, the client, are the center of my practice. Planning services provided depend on your needs. The first, complimentary meeting, centers on determining what you are trying to do with your money. Subsequent meetings are based on helping you to do just what you said you want to do. Investments and investment policy are custom designed around you, your family and situation. For more information about the process, see the Home page and follow the bottom links of the first few web pages at my website www.BetterFinancialEducation.com. More complete information is on my website Disclosure Stuff page.
Rather than try to control the wind, let's learn how to set the sails. This is done through a focus on coordinated processes rather than product.
My focus is retirement planning for pre-retirees, and sustainable retirement income distribution planning for retirees (see my website for a link to my published research on withdrawal rates during retirement). Other plans and goals are accomplished around this primary goal most people have.
Information about my peer reviewed research published in the Journal of Financial Planning, as well as my book Wealth Odyssey (available online at your favorite online bookstore (as are book reviews)), is available on my website link above.
New clients are accepted on a fee basis in order to place the planning relationship focus on processes rather than product. Fees range from .60 to 1.20% depending on assets you place under management, or $120 per hour is you elect a consulting arrangement. Larry is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisers (http://www.napfa.org/), an association of fee-only advisers.
Complete information about processes, book, research, educational material links, bio, and much more can be found at www.BetterFinancialEducation.com
You may visit www.BetterFinancialEducation.com for Larry's complete bio. In general, retired as an Air Force pilot (helicopters, supersonic jets, and internationally on multi-engine mobility aircraft) and contingency & war planner. Married to the former Rosa Maria Caceres of El Salvador with 4 children and 5 grandchildren.
Larry is a Wealth Mentor and Author. He teaches people how to shift their focus from a flawed income-centric point of view to a Wealth-centric, or net-worth, perspective. Once people view their personal finances in this manner, they can see how their financial topics are related to each other. With a greater understanding of personal finance, Larry helps you put this into action by applying the financial tools available to you today to get you to where you are trying to go with your money.
Larry teaches people that advisers don't create wealth, the markets create wealth. Understanding this crucial difference is key to helping people approach the markets and how they invest to accomplish their goals. The overall objective is to reach their goals rather than beat the markets. Larry helps people understand that even if they could beat the market, they may still not reach their goal. There are important behaviors people need to manage that are more critical to avoid mistakes on their way to reaching goals. Larry's business is named Better Financial Education so people can learn and understand what is really important and achievable and how to ignore sales hype.
Learn how to establish and monitor your progress towards retirement, or during retirement, using Larry's simple measure for your unique Standard of Individual Living. Everybody is different. Everybody's retirement goals are different. However, using current withdrawal rate research, Larry can help you determine what you need to do to retire. If you are already retired, he can show you how to monitor your assets so they may last as long as you do.
More than 60% of Larry's clients are women.
Larry is a member of the Academy of Financial Services (http://academyfinancial.org/mission.html) and a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisers (http://www.napfa.org).
