After twenty-eight years in corporate and project finance, John G. Kerr (“Jack”), changed his focus in 2005 to private wealth management. He established Blue Skies Financial Planning, LLC as a Hawaii Registered Investment Adviser in 2009 to provide financial planning and investment advisory services to families and businesses in Hawaii.
A native of Ohio, Mr. Kerr began his career in finance in 1978 with the international division of Chemical Bank of New York after receiving a Master’s Degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. He spent 10 years in corporate lending positions with Chemical Bank, First Union National Bank, and Citigroup in New York, Paris, Houston, Charlotte, and Atlanta. In 1988 he became Treasurer of Geriatric & Medical Centers, Inc., a publicly-traded health care company based in Philadelphia. In 1993 he returned to international finance with Bechtel Enterprises, Inc., an SEC Registered Broker/Dealer and the financing arm of the Bechtel Group. With Bechtel he held senior project finance positions in San Francisco, Manila, and London. In 1999 Mr. Kerr was recruited by Chicago-based Hyatt International to head its international development team. At Hyatt from 1999 to 2004 he was responsible for the acquisition and development of new Hyatt hotels in Europe, South America, and Asia.
Mr. Kerr has earned the CFP® designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., and the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation from the CFA Institute. Blue Skies Financial Planning, LLC is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors and a member of the Financial Planning Association.
