About My Practice
I have been an independent financial advisor since 1981. I own my own business. No insurance company or brokerage house directs the products or services I recommend. I am free to seek out the best opportunities for my clients...consistent with the highest standards of ethical practice.
My job is to ask you questions, to listen carefully to your answers, and to make recommendations only after I fully understand what you are trying to accomplish. When we work together, I will align your goals and your attitude about risk with the most appropriate financial advice and services. My recommendations may include financial or tax oriented strategies, referrals for services from other professionals such as lawyers or accountants, and specific recommendations regarding insurance and your investment portfolio.
My business is split into two major areas: 1) Providing employee benefits to small and midsized businesses. Services include group insurance and retirement plans, business continuation planning, and financial advising for the owners and employees; and 2) Planning for long term financial security and income for individuals and families. My clients are people who can afford to live comfortably, and who want assistance in managing and protecting assets, income, and lifestyle.
Many of my clients are retired or plan to retire soon. They appreciate my attention to understanding their life goals and protecting their assets to last through their lifetimes. This is a different skill set than the average broker or advisor who is just good at accumulating assets over a long period of time. I am sometimes compensated with an advisory fee for helping to maintain an investment portfolio with the most suitable money managers. I am also sometimes compensated by commissions for the sale of specific insurance policies or securities.
