Kim M. Gardey, CFP, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gardey Financial Advisors, and a member of the Investment Committee, has spent all of his working life in the field of investment management and personal financial planning. He began his career in the Investment Department of the National Bank of Detroit. After four years he joined the Second National Bank of Saginaw where he was ultimately named a Senior Vice President and Senior Trust Officer before he left the bank in 1985 to establish his own investment management and financial planning firm. In his position at Second National Bank, he headed the bank's Trust Department. He also headed the bank's Bank Investment Department where he was responsible for the management of the bank's bond porfolio.
Kim earned (with honors) his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in Economics from the University of California where he was named a Distinguished Scholar. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional.
Kim also served on the faculties of Saginaw Valley State University and Delta College where he taught courses in Economics, Monetary Theory & Policy, and Investment Management. He is a member of The Institute of Certified Financial Planners, the CFA Society of Detroit, the American Economic Association, the CFA Institute, The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), The Royal Economic Society, and is a member and past president of the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council.
