About My Practice

We help our clients pursue their wealth management goals through careful advice, astute investment management and access to the capabilities and network of our firm. We think of wealth creation and management as a value chain of technical decisions and we are experts in guiding you through them all—financial planning, budgeting, saving, investing, taxes and estate structure. Guided by the constant principle that your interests always come first, our firm works with you every day to build the value you are looking for.

It all starts by letting us get to know you. You do the talking, we do the listening. We then have an Honest Conversation™ to prioritize your goals, analyze options, develop strategies and engage in your mission together. No one solution fits all, which is why we tailor solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities unique to your situation. We evolve with you seamlessly as your circumstances develop, measuring your progress and constantly adapting to change.

With more than 25 years of experience advising wealthy families, we have a depth and breadth of knowledge that is rare in a firm still small enough to deliver truly personal service. At United Capital Private Wealth Counseling we believe that our  intense effort  and dedication to fiduciary care are greater than one finds in most other organizations. We know our reputation lies in developing lasting relationships with our clients and our experience shows that if we serve you well, our own success will follow.

Honest Conversations® is a unique exercise created by United Capital which utilizes a series of cards along with an open, honest dialogue with your financial adviser. We will walk you through a series of color-coded cards based on fears, commitments and happiness. You will prioritize your cards and discuss why you chose them and how you feel about them. Couples and families will each self-identify their own set of cards, giving each person “a voice,” which is most often not the case. Once the cards are prioritized, you will discover what type of Money Mind you have and why you make the decisions you do. Your adviser will discuss them in detail and help to identify if you are on course to meet your goals and map out a process to achieve them.

The way you make financial decisions determines your entire life and every financial decision we make is based on your preconceived way of thinking.  As a product of an honest discussion and determining how you prioritize your cards you will learn what category you fall into, which we call your Money Mind™. Through this process your adviser will help you understand how your Money Mind™ stops you from making the best financial decisions you can.

TRADITIONAL PLANNING

Most individuals rely on traditional planning and investment techniques to navigate their financial lives. These include:

  • Canned solutions for your unique life
  • A static plan which rarely ever changes
  • Fixed assumptions about the markets and the future
  • A non-customized model-based approach to designing a plan

Traditional plans are much like taking off on a long trip with an end destination in mind but never considering the traffic, weather, lost keys or all of the things that can happen along the way. Much like you did 10 to 20 years ago, you just map it out and assume it will take a certain amount of time and money.

A BETTER WAY FORWARD

There is no doubt many people are frustrated when it comes to their finances if they have followed a traditional plan. Just as it is naïve to set off on a voyage and expect that there will be no adjustments along the way, it is much the same with your finances. They too need a “GPS” or a more modern approach.

  • Advice planning focuses on your entire financial life rather than just your money or investments
  • Assumes your life and the world is always changing and you will need to make frequent course corrections with confidence
  • Presumes that only you know what is important to you, so you MUST participate in the plan design
  • Knows your plan should be unique to your situation and not created for the masses
