FPA Makes Statement in USA TODAY Full-page Ad

For Release: November 3, 2008

DENVER, Colo.…The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) ran a full-page advertisement in the November 3 issue of USA TODAY. The ad is a message to all Americans about the current economy, the change and leadership needed, and how the financial planning community through FPA can be a helpful catalyst for positive change in turbulent times.

"It is time to make a statement to our current and soon-to-be elected leaders one day away from the presidential election," said FPA Executive Director/CEO Marvin W. Tuttle, Jr., CAE. "It's also time to make a statement to consumers who need us, to other organizations who may seek alliance with us and, most of all, our members, who need to know that FPA is their number one advocate during times of crisis and normal business cycles."

The ad directs readers to FPA's public Web site, www.FPAforFinancialPlanning.org. Recent articles on the site include "Managing Your Money During Turbulent Times" and "The New 'Bailout Law: What's In it for You?" FPA also recently created a page on Facebook, accessible from FPA's consumer site, where consumers may ask questions of FPA member volunteers or participate in a discussion on the political impact on the economy or financial planning in an economic downturn.

To assist members and others in the financial planning community, FPA created the FPA Financial Crisis Resource Center. The Resource Center provides access to online discussions and information to help planners assist their clients.
