DENVER, Colo.… FPA Press, the publishing arm of the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), recently released its newest book, In the Presence of Taxes: Applications of After-tax Asset Valuations by William Reichenstein, Ph. D., CFA®. Reichenstain is a well-regarded professor at Baylor University and has been recognized by some of the most renowned journals in the financial planning profession.
In his book, In the Presence of Taxes: Applications of After-tax Asset Valuations, Reichenstein discusses the lack of after-tax asset valuations in client's portfolios, which causes inaccurate long-term projections for individual investors. He discusses the after-tax valuation of assets held in one of four savings vehicles: tax-exempt accounts such as Roth IRAs, tax-deferred accounts such as 401(k)s, taxable accounts and non-qualified tax-deferred annuities. Reichenstein offers an easy to understand framework that will enable planners to offer informed advice about how to locate and allocate assets in ways that will maximize clients' options in retirement.
At FPA Boston 2008, Reichenstein will speak on Asset Allocation, Location, Savings and Withdrawal Strategies in the Presence of Taxes on Sunday, October 5. His presentation will outline his approach for calculating an individual's after-tax asset allocation to distinguish between pretax funds in a 401(k) and after-tax funds in a Roth IRA.
FPA Press was created to cultivate the body of knowledge of personal financial planning by producing quality books and electronic resources for financial planners.
