Money 101 The Basics

Every consumer should have access to free financial education and resources.

Money101thebasics.com is a FREE “no strings attached” web-based financial education resource designed to educate, empower and increase financial knowledge, skills and capability of low-moderate income and underserved populations. It introduces basic financial terms and concepts in plain and simple language and lays the foundation for users to understand how to apply the knowledge gained in day-to-day life. The instructional content supports specific learning objectives that focus on three critical areas: income, spending and savings.

The course goals and objectives are clearly defined and the educational content is organized in eight modules — employment, income, taxes, assets, credit cards, debt, expenses and goals. During each module, users enter data and meaningfully interact with the content therefore transferring what is taught immediately to their personal situation, which makes it possible for them to assess their current financial condition. This "active learning" approach gives users the opportunity to "see" how the information relates to them.

Upon course completion, a detailed personalized financial assessment report is instantly generated. Users can view and/or print the colorful 20+ page report. The in-depth assessment report includes a budget, other important financial statements and personalized tips, suggestions and strategies that are relevant and specific to user’s current financial situation. Also, the report is designed as positive reinforcement. The information it contains enables users to easily and immediately put the newly gained knowledge to use.

Users can also easily update information to reflect changes in circumstances and print new reports as often as you wish.

The site does not endorse or sell any financial products or services.
