The Financial Planning Association of North Alabama is partnering with Fox 6 News, Good Day Alabama to host a live hotline that will answer general financial planning questions from the public from 7 - 9a.m. Financial planning professionals from FPA will be available to answer questions.

Arizona

October 1, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Greater Phoenix has partnered with the City of Chandler Library to host a financial planning presentation from 6:00 - 9:00p.m. The presentation will offer advice on the basics of financial planning to local residents.

October 4 and 5, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Greater Phoenix will be hosting "Financial Planning Day" at the Arizona State Capitol Rotunda at 1700 W. Washington in Phoenix, Ariz. The event is open to state employees only. Participants will learn about the benefits of financial planning through various financial planning workshops, one-on-one financial counseling, an e-mail bank and more.

Cactus Road in Phoenix, Ariz. from 11:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. Mini-workshops will also be held throughout the day on specific financial planning topics.  

California

The Financial Planning Association of San Diego is partnering with KCBQ Radio to announce tips on various financial planning topics throughout Financial Planning Week.

October 3, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of San Diego is partnering with San Diego Union Tribune to offer a free financial planning hotline. FPA members will be answering the public's toughest financial planning questions. The hotline is open to everyone and the advice provided will be unbiased and confidential.

October 4, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of East Bay, San Francisco, Monterey Bay, San Joaquin Valley, Silicon Valley and Northern California will be hosting the 3rd annual "Financial Planning Day" at the California State Capitol building (room 125) in Sacramento, CA from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event is open to state employees only. Participants will learn about the benefits of financial planning through one-on-one financial counseling. The event will promote the PlannerSearch.org website to assist members of the public in finding a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.

Colorado

The Financial Planning Association of Colorado will conduct a series of seminars at Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s largest and oldest provider of workers’ compensation insurance, to help educate employees on various financial planning topics. Seminars will offer advice on how to choose a financial planner and the benefits of financial planning, planning for retirement, costs of higher education and healthcare, choosing the right insurance, investing and estate planning.

The Financial Planning Association of Colorado will include an article in the Denver Business Journal to celebrate Financial Planning Week. The article will show why financial planning is for everyone and how a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional can help. It will also demonstrate how individuals have been helped by financial planning based on their unique circumstances.

The Financial Planning Association of Colorado will participate in a community wellness event at Noel High School in Montbello, Colo. FPA will provide up to 30 minute one-on-one financial planning consultations to attendees.

The Financial Planning Association of Northeast Florida and a leading information services company in human resources, retail and transportation markets, have joined forces to deliver an educational seminar to local bank associates in Jacksonville, Fla. FPA will provide tips on reducing consumer debt and cash management at this event.

October 10, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Central Florida member, Charlie Fitzgerald, CFP®, will testify before the Financial Literacy Council on issues affecting Florida citizens and the commitment of FPA of Central Florida to be a resource to the state government for all matters related to the financial planning profession.

October 21, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Central Florida is partnering with The Orlando Sentinel to host a live telephone hotline that will answer general financial planning questions from the public from 10a.m. - 4p.m. Financial planning professionals from FPA will be available to answer calls. Select questions and answers will be featured in future newspaper issues. Callers will remain anonymous.

Idaho

October 2, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Idaho will be hosting a Financial Planning Week Proclamation Presenting Ceremony at 11:00a.m. at the Borah Building in Boise, Idaho. Idaho State Treasurer, Ron Crane, will emcee the presentation of the Financial Planning Week state of Idaho gubernatorial proclamation and will recognize the FPA of Idaho and the importance of financial planning.

Illinois

October 1-7, 2007
WCPT 850am radio in Chicago will be celebrating Financial Planning Week by providing financial planning tips to listeners throughout the week. Tune in each day to learn a tip on how you can financially achieve your goals and dreams.

The Financial Planning Association of Illinois is partnering with the Daily Herald to host a telephone hotline from 6:30 - 9:00p.m. for the public. The hotline will allow individuals to ask general financial planning questions to receive answers from financial planning experts who are members of FPA.

Financial Planning Association of Illinois is partnering with Junior Achievement to conduct financial literacy courses to students in grades Kindergarten through eigth grade at Schneider Elementary School in Chicago, Ill. Through a variety of hands-on activities, students will learn lessons on free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives.

Maryland

The Financial Planning Association of Maryland and Junior Achievement of Central Maryland (JA) are partnering to teach 75 underprivileged school age children valuable financial concepts important to their everyday live through JA's BizTown. Students will discover real-life opportunities available in the free enterprise system as they become business operators, taxpayers and lawmakers in BizTown. BizTown helps teach basic math, economics, technology, social studies, and reading and writing concepts in a way that is fun for students. 

Minnesota

October 2, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Minnesota is partnering with Junior Achievement to conduct financial literacy courses to students througout public elementary schools in Minneapolis, Minn. Through a variety of hands-on activities, students in kindergarten through fifth grade will learn about workers, the work they perform, why workers are paid, what taxes are and how they are used, and where to save money from FPA volunteers.

October 2, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Minnesota will sponsor a forum-style panel discussion moderated by Terri Gruca of WCCO-TV news for members of the public at Ridgedale Public Library. The panel discussion, "Money, Values and Your Children" will include Chris Farrell, public radio and TV economics correspondent; Nathan Dungan of "Share, Save, Spend" and Mick Endersbe of "College Planning University." Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists, and take part in discussions on a wide range of family issues, including how parents and grandparents can impact appropriate financial values and education in their children, save and pay for higher education costs, and manage the family's overall financial household in today's challenging environment. FPA will also be hosting an "Ask a Planner" session at the event so attendees can meet individually with CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals and ask questions and get advice regarding their specific circumstances. 

October 4, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of Minnesota and AccountAbility Minnesota will host "Financial Planning is for Everyone" at 6:00p.m at the AccounAbility Minnesota headquarters, 2300 Myrtle Avenue W, St. Paul, Minn. The event will offer basic financial planning knowledge to low income individuals, families and small businesses, and will provide pro bono financial planning assistance to seminar participants. 

Missouri

The Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City is partnering with NBC-affiliate, Channel 41 Action News to host a telephone hotline from 4:30-7:30p.m. The hotline will offer free financial advice to station listeners.

The Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City will be featured in the Kansas City Business Journal to celebrate Financial Planning Week. Guidance on the benefits of financial planning and financial considerations for business owners will be shared.

New Jersey

The Financial Planning Association of New Jersey is partnering with the Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) to provide financial literacy courses in high schools throughout the state.

October 1 and 4, 2007
The Financial Planning Association of New Jersey is partnering with Union County College to host "Finanical Health Day" at Union County College, Cranford Campus Common, 1033 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, NJ. Participants will learn the essentials of financial planning, the financial plannng process, money management, budgeting, credit tips and estate planning. The Financial Planning Association of New York, New York University and Kiplinger's magazine will be co-sponsoring the fifth Annual Fitness Workshop from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. at the New York University School of Law in New York, N.Y. The all day public educational event will feature a panel of Kiplinger's editors, include numerous sessions on topics ranging from how to not outlive your money, women and money, creating your own financial plan, credit scroes and identity theft, plus more. Admission for the event is $25 with net proceeds going to Project Renewal, a local program that helps the homeless get back on their feet and into jobs, homes and a better life.

The Financial Planning Association of Greater Hudson Valley, Girls Inc. of Westchester County and the Financial Women's Association of New York are sponsoring the inaugural conference, "A Man is Not a Financial Plan," to help Westchester girls and women plan for a financially secure future from 9a.m. - 2p.m. at Berkeley College in White Plains, N.Y. The conference will empower girls to recognize that they can exercise control over their financial future and make choices that will lead to financial security and independence. Oklahoma

The Financial Planning Association of Central Oklahoma will deliver piggy banks to more than 20 elementary schools in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. Altogether, 2,000 banks will be given away and 20 will contain $100 prizes donated by the Oklahoma College Savings Plan, Oklahoma's 529 Plan, and TIAA-CREF, the company that manages the plan.

The Financial Planning Association of Dallas/Ft. Worth will be co-hosting a free telephone hotline and Web chat with the Dallas Morning News to answer questions from readers. Financial planning professionals from FPA will be available to answer questions.

Virginia

The Financial Planning Association of Central Virginia is hosting a free public event from 12-3p.m.to help those dealing with the numerous financial issues related to cancer treatment and recovery at the VCU Alumni House at 1016 East Clay St. in Richmond, Va. The event will address budgeting and debt management, managing concerns with your employer, identifying and accessing additional cash resources, insurance options and estate planning.
