Martin Kurtz, CFP®, AIFA®, Martin Kurtz, CFP®, AIFA®, currently serves as volunteer chair for the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), the largest organization for personal financial planning experts in the country. Kurtz is president of The Planning Center, Inc. in Moline, Ill.

Kurtz has worked in the financial services industry since 1985, and earned his CFP designation in 1988. In 2007, Kurtz founded First Step Cash Management™, a cash flow system to help clients and advisers.

Kurtz has been a member of FPA and its predecessor organization, International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP) since 1995 and has served in leadership roles on the FPA of Quad Cities Board of Directors, FPA Retreat task force, FPA Chapter Leaders Conference task force and numerous FPA committees, including the nominating and ethics committee. Kurtz was appointed to the CFP Board of Professional Review in 2001, and chaired the CFP Board of Professional Review in 2005.

In addition to his involvement with FPA, Kurtz is also a board member of Money Quotient, has held various leadership positions in his local community, including Ballet Quad Cities, and is an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
