Marv Tuttle, CAE, has served as executive director/CEO of the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) since January 2004.

A 30-year veteran in the association management field, Tuttle began his involvement in the financial planning profession as director of communications for the Institute of Certified Financial Planners in Denver, CO, in October 1983, which merged with the International Association for Financial Planning to form FPA in 2000. He served as FPA’s associate executive director (1993-2004) and publisher/editor of FPA’s flagship publication, the Journal of Financial Planning (1983-2004). In 1996, he received the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), denoting a level of skill and expertise in the field of association management. That same year, the Journal of Financial Planning, under Tuttle’s guidance, was recognized as the Most Improved Magazine/Journal by ASAE for large associations in the United States. In 2001, he helped to establish FPA’s National Financial Planning Support Center, which is dedicated to developing and providing pro bono services for the public in need.

Tuttle currently serves on the national board of directors as FPA’s representative to the National Jump Start Coalition. He has served on the Academy of Financial Services national board; the Advisory Panel on Medicare Education, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and is a past president of the Colorado Society of Association Executives. He is a graduate of Drake University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
