Armstrong was the 2012 chair of the FPA Diversity Committee, a national workgroup focused on developing strategies to raise awareness and promote inclusiveness of diverse communities in the financial planning profession. He has served on the Board of Directors of PridePlanners, a national organization that provides educational and marketing information and networking opportunities to financial professionals who specifically serve gay and lesbian individuals and families. He is also a member of FPA of Massachusetts and volunteers with many local non-profit organizations.
