Tom L. Potts, CFP^®, Ph.D., currently serves as volunteer chair for the 24,000-member Financial Planning Association^® (FPA^®). Potts serves as professor of finance and director of the financial services program for Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

He has served on numerous volunteer workgroups within FPA including the Career Development Strategic Team, Journal of Financial Planning Editorial Board, Americas Focus Group and, most recently, as chair of the Global Advisory Council. Additionally, he served as president of the Academy of Financial Services in 1988, chair of CFP Board of Governors in 1993 and chair of the International CFP Council in 1994.
