FPA has four international volunteer groups and solicits volunteers at the beginning of each calendar year. If you would like to serve on one of these groups, please e-mail international@fpanet.org.
Global Advisory Council
The Global Advisory Council is a gathering of FPA volunteers from around the world who work together to meld their different perspectives into one global vision for the profession. Over time, the hope is more and more consumers are able to benefit from the servicesof competent and ethical planners.
In this GAC forum, best practices and stories are shared to help support those dealing with challenges in their respective countries and vet tactics on how best FPA can be a supportive partner to sister organizations around the world.
The GAC serves as a conduit and synthesizer of information, gathering ideas and feedback from the Geographic Focus Groups, carrying forward initiatives from FPA's Board of Directors, and providing the Board with feedback on key international issues. The GAC meets in person once a year at FPA's Annual Conference, and four times a year by teleconference calls.
Geographic Focus Groups
FPA has three volunteer groups that are divided by region:
- The Americas
- Asia Pacific
- Europe/Middle East/Africa
The purpose and vision of the Geographic Focus Groups is to share experiences, including challenges being faced by the profession and successes that have been experienced by members of the group. It is also important to build the body of knowledge of cross-border planning. To create a cross-flow of information, the chair of each Geographic Focus Group also sits on the Global Advisory Council.
Geo Focus Groups meet in person once a year at FPA's Annual Convention and four times per year by teleconference.
