Community Building

Get connected. Get involved. Get informed ... Visit the FPA Community Building.

Ever wish you had an army of peers you could turn to for advice, ideas and support? You now do.

FPA has two tools for you to use -- the Community Building, where you can invite others come together to discuss topics of common interest, and the Community Gathering Place in the exhibit hall.

FPA's Community Gathering Place in the exhibit hall is the one-stop shop to learn about ways to get involved at FPA. Interested in establishing a new community on a topic of special interest to you?  This is the place to learn how to get this effort started. Or if you just want to have a one-off gathering, you can come here to schedule a meeting in the Community Building.

And if you just want a casual place to gather with those already in your community, feel free to use the Community Gathering Place in the exhibit hall as your meeting place!

The Community Building meeting rooms are the place where you can reach out to get to know those who share your interests.  Use this space to schedule an hour-long topic on whatever you are most interested in.   Want to book your meeting in the Community Building right now?  Go here to fill out the reservation form to do so!

Community Reception

This is your opportunity to learn about the different communities that are a part of FPA -- AND how you can create a new one, if you have a passion you would like to share!  Join us for a coffee reception Sunday, October 10 from 3:15pm - 4:00pm in the Community Building booth in the exhibit hall to connect with others in meaningful ways to you.

Active FPA communities are listed below:

Art of Hosting

The Art of Hosting is a community focused on helping participants deepen their competence and confidence in hosting group processes -- Circle conversations, World Cafe, and Open Space being a few examples.  At its center there are beliefs in the collective wisdom of community and in participatory deep listening for learning and understanding each other.  For more information on this group, email Martin Siesta.

International

The International Community will gather on Saturday morning from 9am - 12pm in the Hyatt, room Agate B.  Conversation will be focused on peer-to-peer learning, so if you have an interest in connecting with peers from around the world, this opportunity is for you!  For more information, email Laura Brook.

MPACT

If you are a mid-career planner or a career changer, go here to learn more about MPACT.  This group will be at the Community Reception in the exhibit hall and hold an hour-long conversation in the Community Building Monday, October 11th from 1 - 2pm MT in room 206.

Master Planners

This is the community for those who fulfill the "rule of 65," having a combined age and years of experience greater than this number.  Come together to learn more about how you can learn from fellow senior planners and give back by mentoring those new to the profession.  Go here for the opportunity to get involved.

This group will be at the Community Reception in the exhibit hall and hold an hour-long conversation in the Community Building Monday, October 11th from 12 - 1pm MT in room 210.
