Is this report essentially the 2009 report with fresh data or are there additional changes?
Based on feedback from 2009 participants or purchasers, we enhanced several aspects of the report including:
- Added job satisfaction by individual position (note: positions covered and detail varies depending on the number of survey responses received on each position).
- Added compensation by service model (comprehensive financial planning practice, investment management practice, modular planning practice, etc).
- Added additional detail on the duties and responsibilities of various positions (note: positions covered and detailvaries depending on the number of survey responses received on each position).
- Broke out owner/CEO/president separate from partner.
- Total pay provided along with the salary, bonus, and incentive breakout.
I did not participate, but am an FPA member. Is there anything I can access for free?
Yes! Last year we made available a nationwide salary calculator along with several articles which included findings from the report. This year we have those same resources available to FPA members on FPA's Practice Management Center. If you would like to access the 2009 resources please use the links below:
Click here to access the 2009 nationwide average compensation calculator which is available in excel format (.xls) on the Practice Management Center.
An article on driving employee satisfaction, developed from some of the 2009 research findings, is available by clicking here.
Why don't all members receive a free copy instead of only those who participated?
All members have the opportunity to get the report free by participating. In future years, if you are an FPA member and would like to receive the report free, simply spend 20-30 minutes completing the survey. Alternately, members receive a significant discount on purchasing the report.
We do need members to provide data on their practice or position in order to provide this report. Each additional participant enables us to provide more accurate and thorough reporting so please consider taking the time to participate in future years.
