Our Speaker
Jim Harvey has been a portfolio manager and an investment management consultant for since 1983. Beginning his career in Anchorage, Alaska with Shearon American Express, he relocated to Seattle in 1985 and started Opus 111 Group, L.L.C. in July of 1999.
Harvey has three professional designations or certifications from the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA): the CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst), the CPWA (Certified Private Wealth Advisor) and a Foundations and Endowment Managemen certificate. He has served on IMCA's Practice Management Committee, the CIMA Practice Analysis Task Force and currently serves on IMCA's Professional Review Board.
He has been a practitioner faculty on Manager Search and Selection and Investment Policy Statement design for the CIMA program at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Haas School at the University of California at Berkeley. He has also lectured at Stanford University on the subject of Manager Search and Selection and Asset Allocation. In addition, Harvey has lectured at IMCA Conferences in the United States and Canada. He has written articles for On Wall Street Magazine, Registered Representative Magazine, Pacific Fishing Magazine, the Anchorage Daily News and the Alaska Business Journal.
In January of 2006 and 2007, Harvey was selected as a Five-Star: Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager and published in the April edition of Seattle Magazine, a distinction reserved for only 7% of all eligible investment professionals. He is an active community volunteer in Seattle and Alaska having served on the board of the Alliance for Education, the Prince William Sound Science Center and the University of Washington Tyee Sports Council. He graduated in 1978 from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and did graduate work at the University of Washington's College of Forest Resources.
