2012 FPA President
In 1969, 13 individuals launched the official commencement of the financial planning industry. They were dedicated to their vision for the financial planning profession and worked tirelessly to develop values, standards and communities to support the profession. We've seen remarkable progress over the past 40 years, and I believe it is our responsibility as a community to continue the development of our profession. To do this, we need the right tools.
FPA is focused on helping you-our members-succeed as financial planners and business professionals. FPA's existing arsenal of tools and resources is substantial, but as our industry continues to advance, our goal is to find additional and more innovative ways to help you continue to combat the sluggish economy, decrease uncertainty about the future, manage additional responsibilities and drive success to your practices and businesses, so that you can continue to raise the bar of values and standards for your client services.
To help make you more efficient, FPA is taking advantage of this evolving mobile world we all live in. Beginning with the March/April 2012 issue of Practice Management Solutions magazine, FPA is switching the delivery of the bimonthly magazine from print and electronic to electronic only. This will give you 24/7 access to the same valuable information on-the-go as well as convenient mobile access to the plethora of articles, webinars, templates and other practice management resources in FPA's Practice Management Center (www.FPAnet.org/PracticeManagement).
For live, face-to-face training and opportunities to hone your practice management skills, I invite you to join me in San Francisco in March at FPA Business Solutions 2012. Experts will teach us unique techniques to master marketing, practice optimization, communication and many other skills important to growing and maintaining your business. It's the ideal place to learn from industry experts and collaborate with your colleagues. It is at conferences like these where fresh and unique ideas blossom; it is where discussions of industry development and progression are stimulated.
I cannot imagine being in this business without the strength and support of my professional association behind me. I want you to feel the same. It's amazing to see how large an impact 13 people made on our profession. What progress can we make with more than 24,000 FPA members? I'm excited to find out and I hope you'll join me.
