Tap Into the NexGen Community for Advice and Support

by Caleb Brown, CFP®
2012 FPA NexGen president

2012 is upon us and I am excited about the endless opportunities for FPA NexGen and the financial planning profession. Our mission of fostering the next generation of financial planners continues to resonate as our group experiences tremendous growth. In addition to our virtual network and private message forum, we will hold two live events in 2012 to help you connect, reconnect and recharge. Look for the NexGen Gathering to be held this summer and the powered by NexGen track of education sessions at FPA Experience 2012 in San Antonio Sept. 29 through Oct. 2. Watch for details on these two events as time draws near.

I want to begin this year by highlighting a NexGen member who says that the community has had a meaningful effect on his career. Chris Brown, CFP®, managing member of Vaughn Brown Wealth Management, joined FPA NexGen after securing his first job out of college and has been an active member since.

"The instantaneous, nationwide network I have with FPA NexGen was critical in preparing me for taking the plunge and going out on my own," says Brown. He received numerous tips and bits of advice from fellow members of the 300-strong FPA NexGen community, and because of that advice, Brown says he has been able to avoid many mistakes and wasted hours.
