Help Us Help Your Clients!

Members of the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) are committed to giving back to their communities by offering pro bono financial planning services through partner organizations to people in need. Services include seminars and workshops, one-on-one consultations, and a variety of brochures and worksheets.

We therefore seek to identify 501(c)(3) organizations who work with individuals and families who lack the income and assets to engage a financial planner on their own. Pro bono assistance is provided free of charge, with no sales or promotion of any products or services -- objective advice with no strings attached.

Availability may differ according to the capacity of volunteers at different chapters. For more information, please contact fpaprobono@fpanet.org.

 For Consumers

FPA's pro bono  program is powered by partnerships between chapters and local non-profit and charities to assist the clients of those organizations. Therefore we generally are unable to respond to direct requests from individuals for pro bono assistance.

You can submit a general financial planning question to the FPA website's Ask a Planner section. The Learning Tools section contains brochures, articles and on-line tools covering a wide variety of financial topics. The Find a Planner section can help you identify CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals in your area for paid engagements.

For general information, advice and encouragement about managing debt and saving for your goals, you can also go to America Saves, the nationwide campaign for individuals and families working to build wealth.

Below are three programs that may be able to provide individual pro bono assistance.

FPA and the Project for Financial Independence
FPA and other financial organizations join forces with the National undefinedEndowment for Financial Education (NEFE) to offer pro bono financial planning assistance to low income families and others facing financial crises. For more information, go to the PFI website.

FPA Offers Assistance to Military Familiesundefined
Military families who are struggling with financial setbacks as a direct result of deployment related to OIF/OEF may be eligible for pro bono assistance. For more infomation, contact fpaprobono@fpanet.org.

FPA offers Assistance to Victims of 9/11
The New York chapter of FPA is carrying on the work of the now-concluded FPA national program to assist individuals directly affected by the events of September 11, 2001. Volunteer Certified Financial Planners® may be able to provide assistance on budgeting, credit management and other financial planning issues. For more information, contact the FPA of New York by phone at 877-773-7269 or by email at 911support@fpany.org.
